Derrick & Eunice

January 29th, 2009 Gene No comments

Derrick was my classmate in ACJC.  It’s been more than 10 years now.  We used to hang out at Derrick’s place for BBQs and games.
So naturally I offered to shoot his wedding.  It really is so enjoyable shooting a friend’s wedding.  You even get to chat with the guests cos you know them too!  I was pleasantly surprised that after all these years, Derrick’s mum and sis still remembered me.  Haha… those were the days!

Eating wasabe biscuits…

Led to this…

Love the expression on this one… hehe

First Dance

January 9th, 2009 Gene No comments

First Dances are so meaningful.  At a wedding, emotions are running high and when a couple does their first dance, it’s always so sweet to see the emotions of the couple and their family and friends.

Here are some First Dance shots from a recent wedding to share…

This photo is just so sweet…

Thank You Lord for 2008!

January 7th, 2009 Gene No comments

I’ve been reading a lot of other photographers’ blogs and every one of them has a blog post of how 2008 has been so great, blah blah blah.
So now it’s our turn to blog about 2008!  Not that we want to follow everyone else, but 2008 has been such a milestone for PhotosByMarbles.  You’ll see what I mean…

2007 ended with some fantastic weddings, paving the way for 2008.

In April 2008, we applied for membership into WPJA and got accepted!  This was to be a huge step for us.
Prior to our listing in WPJA, we had almost no form of advertising, so once we were listed, the enquiries started coming in, and soon enough, we had several bookings for 2008, especially for the year end.

In August 2008, we decided that the website needed a major revamp.  The original website was designed and created by a non-professional (yours truly) and we felt that a more professional looking website would be able to match the quality of our images, hence the current website.

So our listing in WPJA continued to make PhotosByMarbles known to the brides and grooms out there, so came the wedding season of September to December 2008, where we shot numerous weddings, further defining our style of photojournalistic phootgraphy.

In December 2008, we started Facebook ads.  So far we have received several enquiries from couples who got to know us through the Facebook ads.

So that ends 2008.  We are so thankful for the abundant blessings that God has showered upon us and the creativity and passion for our work in this area.  I’m certain that God will see us through 2009 with a greater measure!

This year, our portfolio will be updated (hopefully within the next few weeks) and I know that there will be more word-of-mouth referals, which is the most important form of advertisement for any photographer.

Thank you all for your support!

Shuen Siang & Karen

January 5th, 2009 Gene No comments

It’s always such a wonderful feeling shooting a friend’s wedding.  There’s already that connection with the couple from the very beginning.

I’ve known Karen for more than 10 years, since we were in JC.  We were both in the same sub-committee in ACJC’s 22nd Students’ Council.
Closer to the A levels we were also in the same study group and used to hang around school and even Holland V mugging for the exams.  Those were the days… Haha!

Both Shuen Siang and Karen are teachers… it really is the time of the year when teachers get married!

To Shuen Siang & Karen, I’m so happy for both of you and glad that I could capture your very special day. =)

The little flower girl is Karen’s niece.  So adorable!

I understand that Karen simply adores her niece, so more photos of the little one!

Oh yes…  A Blessed New Year to everyone!  Have a great 2009!
